Walmart is moving into the home with its own version of the traditional grocery store.
The company’s new store is opening in Seattle and is slated to open later this year in Austin, Texas.
The store will be the first Walmart store to open in the U.S. in almost 40 years.
Its first store will offer a wide range of groceries, as well as fresh food, like fruits, vegetables and meats.
Its goal is to make the store the Walmart of convenience and convenience is an important part of Walmart’s strategy to get consumers to shop at the store.
Walmart will operate the new store in partnership with Amazon, which is launching its own grocery store in Portland, Oregon.
It will offer groceries from the company’s largest warehouse, and will have the ability to accept credit and debit cards.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Amazon in Portland and to offer our customers the best of Amazon.com’s offerings, including grocery delivery,” said Walmart chief operating officer, Dan DiMicco, in a statement.
Walmart has been making strides in grocery delivery since it started offering groceries in 2016, opening its first brick-and-mortar grocery store and adding more grocery pickup locations.
In 2017, it also launched its first store in the city of Austin.
The new Walmart store, which will be called the “Walmart Home Delivery,” is slated for completion in 2021 and will be located in the former Home Depot location at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway in the South Lake Union neighborhood.
Walmart is also opening its second store in South Austin in 2019.
The first store opened in Austin in 1991 and it has since grown to serve more than 3 million customers, according to the company.
Walmart’s plans to open a second store on the South Side of Chicago this year is also slated to be a first for the company, which plans to bring its groceries to the city in 2021.
