The NHL trade season is coming to a close, and with it comes a lot of trade rumors.
One of the most anticipated moves this summer is the Los Angeles Kings’ blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Wild, but there are a lot more intriguing deals to watch in the near future.
Here’s a look at what you need to know heading into the upcoming season.1.
The Kings are still in the running to acquire center Connor McDavidThe Los Angeles Knights are currently the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, but that could change before the end of the season.
That could be good news for Los Angeles.
The Knights have reportedly made overtures to Connor McNeil, who is one of the top prospects in the NHL and is currently playing for the Ontario Hockey League’s Kingston Frontenacs.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Knights have offered a “high-three-year, $17.5 million” deal.
The Knights are also reportedly interested in McNeil’s hometown Hamilton Bulldogs.
McNeil has already expressed interest in the Kings, but his future with the organization remains unclear.
McNeil was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round (No. 23) of the 2019 draft, but the team traded him to the Edmonton Oilers at the trade deadline last season.
The Kings have shown a lot to build off of last season, and McNeil would likely fit right in with the Kings’ core, which features Zach Parise, Marian Gaborik, Drew Doughty, and Drew Doughton.
But with the NHL trade market expected to be filled with more high-profile players during the trade season, McNeil could be an ideal fit for the Kings.2.
Vegas has interest in trading McDavidMcDavid would be a fantastic fit for Vegas.
He has been an absolute nightmare for opposing teams with the puck in his hands.
He’s capable of producing goals with his tremendous shot and ability to beat defenders.
Vegas also has the second-best possession numbers in the league, which would give the team an incredible advantage over any other team in the Western Conference.
But Vegas could also benefit from McDavid’s size and skill.
McDavid is 6-foot-4 and weighed in at 205 pounds, which puts him in the middle of the pack for power forwards.
McDavid is also one of many young players in the West who could potentially be coveted by the Kings and their scouts.
McArthur, who was drafted in the third round of the 2016 draft, has been on a breakout year, scoring 24 goals and adding 14 assists.
McAvoy, who’s currently playing in the AHL with the London Knights, has also been one of this season’s breakout stars, scoring 20 goals and 28 assists.
The Sacramento Kings have been linked to McDavid for a while, but McDavid has been the primary target for several teams.
He had one of his best seasons last season with the New Jersey Devils, scoring 28 goals and 66 points in 66 games.
The 31-year-old also has a Stanley Cup ring to his name, having scored a goal in Game 7 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins.3.
Calgary has a number of top-line optionsThe Calgary Flames are known for their ability to add top-end talent, but they haven’t exactly been a force in the standings this season.
The Flames are fifth in the Pacific Division, and they’re the only team in that division that hasn’t won the Stanley Cup.
The top-ranked Calgary Flames have scored just 17 goals in the regular season, but it’s no surprise that the team is ranked eighth in the League in scoring.
With their goaltending woes, the Flames could be a threat to the bottom of the Pacific, but their top-four center has yet to score a goal for the team.
Calgary also has some top-nine forwards, which could help them if they decide to add McDavid.
Cody Ceci, the No, 2 overall pick, could be another potential trade chip.
Ceci has put up 15 goals and 16 assists for the University of Michigan, and he’s been a big part of the Wolverines’ top-two line.
Ceci is currently skating with the Chicago Blackhawks and has a chance to make his NHL debut soon.
Calgary could be willing to part with Ceci for a player who could help the Flames.4.
Detroit is trying to get a top-five pickThe Detroit Red Wings have one of their top prospects, Jakub Kindl, and their top prospect, Brendan Smith, is coming off of a big junior season.
They’ve also added a number the other top-six forwards in the organization.
Detroit has also added defenseman Luke Glendening and forward Justin Abdelkader.
Detroit may be a team to watch heading into this season, as they’ve been one the most active teams in the offseason.5.
Dallas is one team to keep an eye onThe Dallas Stars are one of several teams who could
